Zyrtarët në Egjipt thonë se një tren u përplas me një autobuz shkolle, duke vrarë të paktën 49 persona, shumica e tyre fëmijë të vegjël. Aksidenti ndodhi sot rreth 300 kilometra në jug të Kairos, në provincën jugore Assiut të Egjiptit. Autobuzi ishte mbushur me mbi 60 fëmijë të moshës 4-6 vjeçare, kur u godit nga treni ndërsa kalonte mbi shina.

Zyrtarët thanë se veç 49 të vdekurve ka të 18 plagosur. Guvernatori provincial tha se pengesa tek kryqëzimi ishte e hapur kur kaloi autobuzi dhe se roja i kryqëzimit ishte duke fjetur në kohën kur ndodhi aksidenti. Autoritetet përkatëse e arrestuarn rojen. Ministri i transportit Mohamad Rashad dha dorëheqjen menjëherë pasi u bë i njohur aksidenti. Sistemi i hekurudhave në Egjipt ka patur vazhdimisht probleme.
